We made it! What a busy, crazy, sugar filled day! Thanks to everyone who brought yum yums to share, we ate up a storm!
Division 1 managed to escape from a Halloween themed room today in just shy of 20 minutes. I was very impressed at how well the majority of the students worked to solve clues together.
I hope everyone has a safe night tonight!
- Examen de Dictee 6 vendredi
- Diner chaud vendredi
- Presentations pour Concours du RC continue vendredi
What a fun day!! WGSS was awesome! We had a PE class, we got to see all the different extracurricular clubs that are offered, and we ate an amazing lunch!
Regarding tomorrow- Div 1 is encouraged to bring yum yums to share for an unofficial party. Costumes are also encouraged, no masks or weapons please.
- Education Physique (we start in the gym)
- Instagram feuille (WGSS Club Day Reflection) (2 images, 2#s, colorie, pas de crayon) due demain
Wowzers, Division 1 was off the wall today. Not sure what’s up, if its carryover from Spooktacular, or the anticipation of Halloween in a couple of days, but I found today very frustrating.
Presentations began for our Concours du Rechauffment Climatique and will continue tomorrow.
Division 1 went around and presented their Why Music Is Important speeches to some of our younger classes today. The general feedback was positive. Pat on the back.
For tomorrow, we are walking, no matter the weather, to WGSS. We will be participating in 3 events: a PE class, Club Day and lunch (they are providing lunch!!) Students are expected to dress accordingly, for the walk and for PE. Students are also expected to behave appropriately as representatives of JKE, if you wanted to preemptively discuss those expectations with them, I thank you in advance.
- Orchestre demain
- Concours du Rechauffment Climatique continue demain
- Speeches- Why Music Is Important (probably just for me but possibly for the class)
I meant to post the rubric for Le Concours du Réchauffement Climatique Rubrique project due tomorrow. Better late than never I suppose.
What a busy day! Students had an interesting band day today, followed by a Dictee test and a Math test. I am very excited to hear their Why Music Is Important speeches on Monday, as are our younger classes. We finished with Enrichment, and my group spent the afternoon getting covered in paper mache goopiness! I’m still peelng glue off my fingers 🙂
There is a lot due on Monday- the above mentioned speeches and posters, the Concours du Rechauffement Climatique presentations start, and we have a quiz on les pluriels de AL, EAU, EU, AIL et OU. Monday is also a Collaboration day, dismissal at 1:30pm.
A permission form went home yesterday regarding open walking trips to WGSS for the rest of the year. I am happy to announce that this coming Tuesday is the first of those visits. We will be having a PE class run by WGSS PE teachers (I hope they make Div 1 work harder than I do!), they will be showing off their various after school clubs that may interest our students for next year, AND are offering a FREE lunch in their cafeteria! It is going to be a great morning! Please sign and return the forms ASAP, it would be a shame for anyone to miss out!!!
Have a great time at Spooktacular this evening! And have a wonderful weekend!
***Photo Retakes are tomorrow!***
I was very impressed with Division 1’s work ethic this morning, and I thanked them accordingly.
Very excited to see everyone coming to conferences today. Again, if you didn’t get a chance to sign up but would like to meet with me, send me an email and we’ll arrange something. I am only conferencing today and will not be here tomorrow.
Division 1 has a big Math test on Friday! They were given the criteria sheet today and most completed it. If you like you could check in with them and ask them what will be on it and to explain a few of the different areas. If they struggle to explain, they may not fully understand the concepts and could benefit from a review of past homework and notes.
- Education Physique demain
- Vendredi: Examen de Dictee 5
- Math Test- Patterns and Relations
- Spooktacular (I hear they’re still looking for volunteers, parents OR grade 7s!)
- Lundi- Quiz- pluriels de AL, EAU, EU, AIL (remember the exceptions!)
Mr Rogers commented today on how disappointed he is with the current behaviour and progress of the Grade 7 Band. As it is part of the curriculum, students are expected to participate fully, which includes regular practice of their instrument, as well as demonstrating positive, appropriate behaviour during Band time. We will continue to remind and practice these behaviours, but a conversation at home regarding these expectations would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.
Tomorrow are our Parent Teacher Conferences. Sign ups are closed, but if you are needing a spot, please email me to schedule something. A reminder that early dismissal tomorrow and Thursday is 1:45.
Don’t forget to visit the Book Fair this week, and Spooktacular is Friday!

Sign ups for conferences close this evening. If the times available don’t work for you, please email me and we can work something out. Please be aware that for first term conferences I’d like to see just parents, no students.
The Book Fair opens tomorrow, I have us signed up to visit during the day.

Division 1 received their first big project of the year- The Global Warming Awards. Each group has a different issue related to global warming, and will present what their issue is and argue why it is the most alarming. The students will have 4 in class work periods with technology to research and accumulate information. Their final project is a visual representation of their information accompanied by an oral presentation. At the end, the class will vote on whose global warming issue merits the award. The rubric for evaluation will be distributed soon.
