Term 1, 2021, that’s a wrap!

Thanks everyone for the sweet and thoughtful gifts. Mr V and I are so appreciative of your kindness and generosity.

Today was a lot of fun! Students did the 12 Days of Fitness in PE, we tidied our bins, played an epic game of Kahoot, and watched The Croods. Such a fun movie 🙂 Thanks to everyone who brought in yumyums to share.

Just a reminder that we come back on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022.

Wishing you a safe, restful and joyful break.

À la nouvelle année!

These kids are into drama! We watched the 3 holiday readers theatre skits today and each group did an amazing job! So much fun!

We played teachers vs grade 7 girls volleyball after school. I am so proud of the girls and how much their skills have developed throughout the season. Like them, I wish we could play all year 😀

Hot lunch order for Term 2 due before Friday.

Les Devoirs:

  • last day with Mr V before break, Holiday Concert viewing
  • jeudi- “Festive Fashion”
  • vendredi- education physique, Pre-Break ‘Fête’, anyone want to bring yumyums to share?

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! We watched the Grey Cup yesterday and ate lots of yummy appetizers 😀

For the Winter Concert, Div 1 is making some inclusive art that doubles as our Door Decorating Competition submission. Students randomly selected a language, researched how to say “Happy Holidays” and the flag of a country where that language is predominantly spoken. Such a fun learning opportunity. I will share the final product tomorrow.

Les Devoirs:

  • Holiday Readers Theatre Presentations tomorrow (props! costumes!)
  • Orchestre demain
  • Teachers vs Grade 7 Girls Volleyball game after school, spectators welcome!

À demain!

Another fun, dreary Friday. I am noticing that students are not coming dressed for the conditions. If you could please remind your child to layer up (a hoodie is not a jacket), we would very much appreciate it!

First Term report cards have been published. You should have received a link to MyEd in order to view them. We always try and input as much of the student’s own reflections as possible, hopefully that creates good conversation opportunities for you.

We spent the last part of the day with our little buddies, helping them make holiday cards for their families. Mme Kang and I love watching how the 2 classes interact, it’s so special. Our class does a really good job and I am always so appreciate of the time they take with their little buddies.

Next week the teachers will be taking on the Grade 7 Volleyballs teams after school (Girls on Tuesday, Boys on Thursday. Spectators are welcome. We are looking forward to it!

Thursday is Festive Fashion Spirit Day, and I’m hoping to have Pyjama Day on Friday.

Bonne fin de semaine!

Today was SUCH a fun day! The staff played an epic volleyball game against Constable McLaren, our School Liaison Officer, and some of her colleagues. It was a blast. We had the grade sevens come and watch and I think they had a pretty good time. We will be playing against each of the grade seven teams next week after school, dates TBA.

It’s December!

Today was a really fun day! We wrapped up volleyball in PE. I am super impressed with the engagement and sportsmanship that was evident in the games today.

We also presented our Civilization: A Nomadic Journey for each other and for our little buddies. Mme Kang and I were both so impressed at the theatrical effort and performances. Really well done.

Next week we are running a Langley Food Bank Drive to support our local community. More than ever this year, people are in need, and we are asking for families to pitch in if they are able. The specific items on their wishlist include cash (donate through www.langleyfoodbank.com), grocery story gift cards, canned fruit and vegetables, sandwich spreads, coffee (not pods), baby food and formula, diapers (specifically sizes 4, 5, 6 and pull ups). We have also partnered with the Canadian Red Cross, you can donate to the Flood Relief Fund. Any donations made through our link https://www.redcross.ca/bcfloods/jameskenneyelementary will be matched dollar for dollar by the federal government.

Les Devoirs:

  • curriculum vitae pour Mr V

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, à lundi!
