Camp forms went home today! We are so excited to be able to go to Camp Jubilee this year! We are going for one day, early early morning to dinnertime-ish, take a water taxi to the camp and back, we will get to participate in several of the super fun activities they offer, and eat yummy food! So excited!
Quick info: May 12th, 7:30am departure, 5:30pm-ish return, $100 fee (includes bus, water taxi, food and activities), forms and payment due April 29.
Welcome back! Hope you all had a lovely break! Sounds like some fun things happened 😀
Students completed a one-page “Mes Vacances” visual representation of the various things they did, here they are at the end of the day checking out each others’ pages.
Just a reminder that masks are now a family choice in schools. I reminded everyone that we make our own choices and support and include everyone’s choices. As well, if students travelled outside of Canada over the break they are encouraged to wear a mask for the next 2 weeks.
Today was fun! We started in the gym, I made an epic Pre-Spring Break Blooket, plus we played some others, did a bit of tidying and organizing, then we watched The Giver. I love hearing all the reactions to changes to the story, different details etc. Overall I think it was well received, but the movie is never better than the book.
Students were asked to inventory their supplies today. Hopefully they let you know what they need more of/replacing. I recommend that students ensure they have a compass (circle drawing tool found in their geometry set) and a calculator for third term.
Wishing you all the best Spring Break, whatever you end up doing. Be safe, make good choices, and we will see you in a couple weeks!
Students completed the Grade 7 Satisfaction Survey this morning (they would have done the grade 4 one).
We tried to do a digital Math escape room type thing today, it went pretty well, the Soo-permarché was open at the same time.
We are so loving Blooket right now 😀
Round 2 of conferences this afternoon. Mr V said yesterday’s went well, thank you for your time. I look forward to seeing many of you today. Just a reminder that we have a 15 minutes time span together, and I am basically fully booked so please try to arrive on time. I also apologize if I run a bit late, thank you for understanding.
Tomorrow we will be doing our pre-Spring Break cleanup/tidy/inventory before spending the afternoon watching The Giver.
Today was a fun day! We saw more Utopian Society presentations, we played Trashketball to review decimal multiplication and division and wrapped up the afternoon after Band with 3 rounds of Blooket, our new favourite question/ based game program- SUPER FUN!
Good luck to everyone writing the WGSS Math Challenge exam this afternoon!
Just a reminder that tomorrow and Thursday are 1:33 dismissal for Conferences.
**Just to clarify- Mr V will be at Wednesdays conferences and I will be at Thursdays conferences.**
We hope that both you and your child will attend your conference, it makes for a more meaningful conversation, unless there is something specific you want to speak to without them present 🙂
What a beautiful weekend we were treated to! Welcome to the week before spring break!
Just a reminder that Parent/Teacher Conferences are Wednesday and Thursday this week. Students will be dismissed at 1:33 both days, and the first time slot is 1:45pm. The format will be the same as first term, students are strongly encouraged to attend. I will send out virtual conferences invites tomorrow.
The WGSS Accelerated Math Exam is tomorrow at 3:15pm. Details include: 1-1.5 hour duration, 20 multiple choice and 4 written questions, NO calculators allowed, bring a pencil and eraser. Results often take 6-8 weeks. Good luck to everyone!
We began Our Utopian Society presentations today. Interesting to see the different thoughts and ideas. We will finish tomorrow.
