Welcome to December! We officially have 3 weeks until Winter Break!

I am SO impressed with how everyone’s SICs went! The students did an amazing job showing off their learning and growth, and explaining all the different examples to their families. I am polishing up the documents and they will be available next week on MyEd.

The next 3 weeks will be busy with work, but also fun things as we near the break. We will do our best to keep up to date with all the things 🙂

Giving Tree Coin Drive is on all week. While we say we are collecting a certain coin each day, if you’d rather donate all on one day that’s fine as well. Anything helps!

Tomorrow is the Grade 7 vs Teacher Volleyball Game!!! Probably a day that I most look forward to each fall. Players- don’t forget your gear, spectators, don’t forget your donation to Giving Tree! Game on!

Les Devoirs:

  • demain: 6mes-Musique
    • 7mes- Math: Problem of the Week due
  • vendredi- Mismatch Day
    • Missy D Concert
  • vendredi prochain: Young Entrepreneurs Fair!

Sorry for not posting yesterday, everything I had to say was a repeat of Monday, and I have been busy busy getting ready for conferences!

Speaking of, we are ready! The class has been busy the last 2 days reflecting and preparing a collection of their learning and growth over the last few months. I cannot wait for them to share everything with you, I am so proud of them!

Also, everyone has booked their conference, thank you! I believe everyone has also submitted their Family Reflection. I really appreciate your time on that!

I am basically booked back-to-back the next 2 days, so I ask that you arrive just a few minutes before your time and wait to be let in. I will do my best to not go over on time, we do have a buffer built in for that reason. If you are going to be late, please let me know.

The Book Fair is open! Hope you are able to stop by and check out the amazing books and other goods available, the library receives a portion of the sales to use towards our own collection so every little bit helps. It is a nice way to peruse French books, sometimes a tricky thing 🙂

Friday is our field trip to the Cinema to watch Le Robot Sauvage. I will be emailing the last few families who have yet to pay. Any student who has not paid and completed the permission form will be staying behind and put in a temporary space while we are away.

Just a note- Mme Huard and I have switched our days (Thursday and Friday) so that I can attend all the conferences. That means that Mme Huard is here on Friday and will be taking the class on the field trip (along with several other FI classes).

The Rest of this Week:

  • demain- no school except for conferences
  • jeudi- half day (12:33 dismissal)
  • vendredi- Mme Huard
    • Excursion au cinema

À demain ou jeudi!

Masala Boyz is so tasty!

Another productive day in the Chalet! We began by wrapping up our volleyball unit with an observation and assessment, I wandered around watching bumping and setting, giving a bit of feedback and jumping in as needed. Thanks to those that let me hit volleyballs at them, always fun 🙂 We then switched for Math. After recess it was all French- we wrote our Examen de Dictée 4 then worked on our paragraphs. After lunch we switched for ADST, 7s began their business plans and 6s did some fun flat lays.

Monday and Tuesday are going to be BUSY as we prepare for SICs on Wednesday and Thursday. If you have work that is due or has been due, GET IT DONE. It will come up during your conference!

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up their SIC. I am just missing a couple, I will email anyone on Monday who hasn’t signed up yet. Also, I believe I have received everyone’s Family Reflection, merci!

Last, thank you to about half of families that have paid for our French Film field trip next week. It is available on School Cash Online. I will email on Monday to anyone yet to pay.

Happy Monday! Anyone watch the Grey Cup yesterday? We did and ate some very yummy appies 🙂

We worked hard today. As this is our last full week before SICs, we have lots to get done. I am excited for them to show you all the learning and growth that has taken place so far.

This morning we started a new Dictée. It has been a few weeks but I want to review our results and do some self-reflection for SICs. The 6s wrote a PGFC Quiz in Math and 7s are working on multiplying integers. In English we wrote a NF Text Feature Quiz, and then practiced our mastery of it some more. After lunch the 7s went to Band and the 6 started their next Problème de la Semaine. Afterwards we met up with our little buddies for a quick free play in the gym. To finish the day, students received their paragraphs, Mon Passe-Temps Préféré, as well as started a new topic for this week’s- Ma Célébration Préférée. The goal is for them to take the feedback from the previous and apply it to this week’s, and we will compare at SICs to show growth, and also to set a goal around writing.

Giving Trees are starting up! Soon the tags will be available on the trees, and our wonderful grade 7 leadership students will be helping out.

Les Devoirs:

  • demain- 6mes- La Musique
    • 7mes- Multiplying Integers

Alternative Title- BATS!

Another fun Friday where we avoided the rain! We did some volleyball in PE, played a fun serving game called “clear the court”. After recess we switched for ADST- 7s are working on their mini black and white ad that will be placed around the school. After lunch we did some work with non-fiction text features, students used some pre-made bits plus some of their own research and creativity to create a mini-poster about bats, but also labelling the different features. Some very interesting facts were shared!

    • 6mes- PGFC evaluation

Hope you all had a lovely long weekend and that you were able to take a moment yesterday to reflect on Remembrance and Sacrifice.

From Mme Huard:

On Nov 6, we started a project on « pays de la francophonie » Each student picked a country and has a set of questions to answer. Then they will make a poster and present it. They have the option to present it in front of the class (highly suggested for grade 7 to practice for high school) or record themselves and email it to me. Presentations will be on November 20. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Giving Trees will be starting up soon!
