What a lovely day it turned into!

We began our day in the gym, and with the volleyball nets slightly altered, we played some modified pickleball games! Students then worked through today’s Dictée. After recess we had a work period to catch up on a few things. All French 7s met this afternoon for Young Entrepreneurs, we set some goals, looked through the first few pages of the booklet, and had our first prototype shakeout (bravo Arjun!). Students are strongly encouraged to bring in their prototypes for formal and informal share outs, they are very valuable feedback opportunities!

We were busy today! Students corrected their first Examen de Dictée this morning, and it will serve as their baseline for results moving forward. The ultimate goal is 5 errors or less to show a strong understanding of the written language. We also began Dictée 2, which will be a condensed week. This week we are reviewing ER verbes au présent as our rule, and will have a quiz on it next Monday.

We began a galaxy web quest for science, it was fun to peruse the interactive star website 🙂

This afternoon we logged on to Office365 for the first time, and accessed Spaces so they could post their first Math assessment reflection.

This morning all the French grade 7s gathered to discuss Young Entrepreneurs, our big ADST project this term. Students Weill be guided through the small business startup process, ideating, prototyping, manufacturing goods to then sell at our Young Entrepreneurs Fair the last week before Winter Break. They were all advised to check in with their grown ups about budget, ideas etc. As students begin their initial prototypes, they are encouraged to bring them in to share, explain and receive feedback.

Div 1 also began Dictée (finally). Each week, students will hear 2/3 different but related texts, work through the vocab, parts of speech, grammar rules etc. On Friday, all of the texts will be combined into a test and the following Monday they will be tested on that week’s “rule” (verb conjugation, homophones etc). As your child what the topic of today’s text was! *note- it IS expected that students are bringing their Dictée home to practice EACH DAY in preparation for the examen.

In Math, we began practice and mastery of divisibility rules.

Students wrapped up the day by paying their October rent.
