Shoutout to all the teachers and SEAs in our class family 🩵
Another productive Friday!
We played some pickle ball again today, always fun.
Students received their Quiz:Et/Est back, they were very well done overall! We also tried out a French reading activity today that went pretty well.
We switched for Math, Problem of the Week/ Problème de la Semaine #2 was due. 6s are reviewing and practicing their multiplication facts and finishing up their Evaluation de Placement de Valeur. 7s are continuing with divisibility? I think…
After a tasty hot lunch, we switched for ADST for the first time. Grade 7s will be participating in Young Entrepreneurs this term, our Fair will take place the week of December 8-12 (the second to last week before Winter Break), for those trying to make plans. I will confirm the date next week. We had a really great conversation about successful businesses, previous success and learning from participating in YE, things we’re looking forward to etc. Guidelines and products that are not permitted were also discussed. Students will receive their booklets and more information next week.
We ended the day with some students using the pizza boxes to make a line of dominos 🙂

Bonne fin de semaine!
Welcome to October! Hope your final weekend of September went well, several students shared our about fun things that they did 🙂
Students paid their first month’s rent this morning! They also wrote their first quiz (et/est), and got back their first Examen de DictĂ©e. They were quite well done. The quizzes will be returned on Friday.
We also accessed Teams and Microsoft Word for the first time. We will use these platforms regularly to submit assignments and projects. Student can access them at home using their same @langleyschools logins for free.

Ă€ vendredi!
I was very impressed at our class’ behaviour and demeanour in our Orange Shirt Day Assembly this morning, very engaged and respectful.
We wrote our first Examen de Dictée after recess. On Wednesday we will examine our results and discuss strategies to make small improvements as the term progresses. We will also write our Quiz: Et/Est to finish up Dictée 1. There is a practice Blooket available over on WebQuest!

The 6s finished up their Avis de Recherche Place Value posters today, they look great!
Les Devoirs:
Wishing you a lovely long weekend, Ă mercredi!

Another busy day full of productivity. We worked through day 3 of DictĂ©e, students should now be preparing for the Examen on Friday. This can look like rewriting each days’ text or vocabulary, reading it out loud, playing a word/letter game using the vocab (ie hangman, scrabble etc). Divisibility rules and place value were the focus again in Math. After lunch, we used school tech for the first time to do a mini research project on Indian Residential Schools in BC, the Yukon and a few in Alberta. We created a collaborative display for inside the school. Our Orange Shirt Day assembly is on Friday.
Les Devoirs:
Hopefully see you tomorrow evening or vendredi!
Another productive day 🙂
Second day of Dictée, students seem to be taking to it quite well. In Math, 7s are continuing with Divisibility rules, 6s are wrapping up large number place value with an evaluation tomorrow or Friday. Both groups are working on a Problem of the Week due next Wednesday.
After recess, we discussed Truth and Reconciliation, Indian Residential School aftermath and the TRC 94 Calls to Action. Here is the link to the child friendly version that some of you asked for. We will continue our Reconciliation work in preparation for the assembly on Friday.
Meet the Teacher is on Thursday! Between 5:30 and 6:30pm, please drop by the chalet and meet Mme Soo! (unfortunately Mme Huard cannot make it). It is always nice if you and your child can make it, they can show you around the class and some of the work we have been doing and introduce you to me 🙂
Les Devoirs:
À demain 🙂
Happy First Day of Autumn! Hope you all had a lovely weekend, a few students shared out the best part of their weekend, sounds like lots of fun and interesting events 🙂
Today was Day 1 of our DictĂ©e program! The first 3 days of the week, students will listen to and write down French sentences, work with the vocabulary as well as a specific grammar or verb conjugation rule. The last day (or following Monday), students will write the Examen de DictĂ©e, and the day after that, a quiz on that week’s rule. The target is 5 errors or less on the examen, and we will also examine our results over time to look for patterns/improvements etc.
This week, we will also be dedicating some time to discuss Truth and Reconciliation, Residential Schools and Orange Shirt Day. Our assembly will be on Friday.
Please look over, correct, sign and return your Verification Form as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone to has already returned theirs.
Shana tova to anyone celebrating the Jewish New Year this evening!

Ă€ demain!
Joyeux vendredi!
This morning we had a lovely gym block- after our warmup we practiced some pickle ball basics, ran a few drills, then played a bit of back and forth. I was happy to see everyone wore relatively reasonable gym attire and shoes.
In French we did an English to French translation activity which will hopefully encouraged us to not use Google Translate for entire sentences or chunks of text.
Both 6s and 7s have Math homework this weekend.
After lunch we did a fun team building challenge- ask your child about it!
Les Devoirs:
Bonne fin de semaine!
