It has been quite the week in the Grade 6/7 FI classes. If you’re not sure what I mean, inquire with your child, and maybe ask to see what their online presence looks like.

We will continue to encourage, model and practice safe, kind and respectful behaviour at school in all situations, and appreciate your support at home with this. Especially as we celebrate Diversity and Respect Week next week.

Concours commence lundi! Students should be practicing all weekend in preparation. They have been told that we will start with volunteers and then they will be chosen randomly. The goal is to complete everyone next week as we near SICs in 2 weeks. Encourage them to get it over with so they’re not sitting in a puddle of anxiety all week.

Just a reminder that WGSS Course things are due today. I have received all the necessary forms, please ensure your child has logged onto MyEd to finalize their selection, and applied for any choice programs they may be interested in.

Lastly, we were supposed to have a Fête de Classe this afternoon, unfortunately our Concours practice took a bit too long so we decided to push the yumyum/fête aspect to Monday afternoon once we return from SH/Orchestre.

Diversity and Respect Week:

  • lundi- Aboriginal Excellence Day
  • mardi- Rainbow Day
  • mercredi- Pink Shirt Day
  • jeudi- Identity Day
  • vendredi- Anti-Racism day

Bonne fin de semaine!

This is our penultimate week before Concours! Our focus is on practicing and preparing for our presentations. Students will be given time at school to rehearse, including filming and self-assessment/goal setting opportunities. It is also expected that students are practicing at home.

Both grades are working on decimal operations in Math, specifically multiplying decimals right now.

Phew, what a day!

The 7s and I had a blast at WGSS this morning! The GQs did a great job running a bunch of activities with our groups, the students got to see the school, do a PE activity, have a snack, win some prizes etc. The other JKE teachers and I got to see former students and hang out with Mr Rogers, who we miss dearly.

After Collab, the 7s did a but of Sciences Humaines (currently discussing the paleolithic age) and the 6s headed off to music. We had a visiting grade 12 student hang out and observe us during SH, which was lovely.

Looking forward to a more regularly scheduled day tomorrow.

Les Devoirs:

  • demain- 7s: Orchestre, 6s: Bibliothèque
  • jeudi- Dress Like a Character Day
  • vendredi- Education Physique

Hope you all had a nice weekend, the weather was very cooperative if you wanted to be outside at all 🙂

Today was very exciting for the 7s- 2 of my students from last year came to chat with us about their experience so far in grade 8. They had lots of great insight to share and in return, the 7s asked lots of questions. Tomorrow we will be sending the morning at WGSS for Transition Day with the other feeder schools. We still start all together in the gym, then break into smaller groups with a couple WGSS GQs (leadership students) to go on a tour and answer any other questions they may have. As we are walking there and back, and may also be participating in a physical activity in the gym, students are encouraged to wear running shoes and other appropriate clothes. As well, students are encouraged to bring a small pocket snack. A snack will be provided by WGSS, but we all know that one is never enough. Water bottles are also permitted. Any questions, let me know.

If your family is participating in Literacy Bingo, the sheet is due tomorrow.

Grade 6/7 girls basketball practice 8:00am. Grade 6 boys 12:00.

Thursday is ‘Dress Like a Book Character Day”.
