Lots of French and English being done and we finally had Enrichment again!
This week’s On Partage share out was “would you rather have an extra leg or an extra arm and why?” There was a clear favourite, ask your child what they shared!
Giving Trees! Tags are available, and our coin drive starts next week. Monday is nickels but we’ll take anything anyway. Thanks so much!
Les Devoirs:
avant lundi- type and share your good copies of Mon Passe-Temps Préféré paragraph (hsoo@sd35.bc.ca)
OR continue working on your paragraph as discussed with Mme (if you were away etc)
We had 7 missing friends again today. Hoping you are all on the upswing from whatever is ailing you. My daughter is still sick as well…
We played an actual volleyball in gym today! I think it went really well. We have some awesome leaders from the Grade 7 team, but everyone is really showing improvement/engagement etc, and I love it!
While doing French work today we also viewed some of the Canada/Belgium World Cup match, which we also continued during lunch.
Grade 7s finished their Lascaux inspired art, I can’t wait to put them up and show you!
Grade 6s continued work on their Evaluations Finales for Math. I am really impressed at how hard they are working and how engaged they are in the process. I know that they probably have never done a Math assessment like this and it seems like they are responding very positively to it.
JKE is currently running a warm clothing drive for Kimz Angels. Jackets, gloves, blankets, hard warmers, socks are all being collected, new or gently used and clean.
Giving Trees are up and running! The trees are covered in tags and waiting in the foyer! We are supporting several families with 4 or 5 children each. Please tag a tag (or multiple), acquire the item and bring it back under the tree, WITH THE TAG ATTACHED. We are also running a coin drive next week to purchase any items we do not receive. Thanks in advance! JKE always does an amazing job with Giving Trees ❤
Les Devoirs:
Grade 7s- Math Test demain
Grade 6s- Math Evaluation Finale due vendredi (1 more work block demain aves Mme Shak)
Happy Soggy Tuesday! We had 7 friends away today. There is definitely something nasty going around, my daughter is also home sick. Please remind your child about proper hand hygiene!
Double inside recess today, thankfully our class is pretty chill and able to find something quiet and appropriate to occupy their time.
Grade 7s started their Lascaux inspired art project today, I love this project so much!
Grade 6s continued working on their Evaluation Finale for Math.
Grade 7s have their last volleyball of the season, a home game finally, against Dorothy Peacock.
I had a great weekend and we spent some time this morning talking about. I’m a huge ancient civilization nut and I was treated to the Beyond Tut exhibit at the Convention Centre downtown. I showed the class some of the photos I took and the swag I got.
Then we went to watch the Langley Children’s Choir perform for us, it was very well done! They same some very entertaining songs. Div 3 was very well behaved.
We had quite a bit of French to do today (it is report card season), some Math and some English at the end of the day.
We are really coming along in volleyball. I assessed their ball control (volley and bump) for the first time today. I will assess again in a couple weeks to see if any further progress has been made.
After recess we heard the last Dictee for the week. The examen will be on Monday. We will also have a quiz on the rule- ces/ses/c’est. The Dictee 4 Blooket will be available all weekend for review.
In Math, the 7s continue working towards mastery of decimal multiplication and the 6s continue working with prime and composite numbers (numbers premiers et composés).
I forgot to mention yesterday that we started our On Partage activity in French. One day per week students will be given a random topic and time to prepare their thoughts before sharing out in front of the class. It’s a really easy and low stakes way for students to practice speaking in French in front of others. Typically Term 2 is when Concours d’Arts Oratoire happens, which is a much. more formal (and stressful) public speaking opportunity, and On Partage is my way of easing students into it. Our subject this week was “the best season and why” Ask your child what they chose and why!
Have a great day with Mme Shak demain! Reminder that Friday is a Jour de Congé for students.
Les Devoirs:

Hoping you are able to take a moment to honour and acknowledge all military personal, past and present, who bravely and selflessly serve to protect peace and liberty here and around the world.
Remembrance Day is particularly important to me, as my cousin, Private Chad Horn, served in Afghanistan and was killed in action on September 3, 2008.
Wishing you all a lovely long weekend. Just a reminder:
-Monday we will have a quiz on Non-Fiction Text Features.
-Tuesday, grade 6s Good Copy Letter to Town Counsellor is due. (Neatly written on lined paper)
This morning the class created a collaborative art piece in honour of Remembrance Day which will hang in the gym for the assembly on Thursday. Here is a picture of the gluing process. I’ll share the finished product tomorrow.
