Hope you had a nice weekend! I heard about some sports and dance events, Coachella watching and food truck festival eating this morning 🙂

In French, we began our study of le passé composé (the past tense). I have noticed that verb conjugation is an area of growth, and is something that is important in grade 8 so we will work on this term.

This afternoon, we officially began our Novel Analysis One-Pagers, I posted the outline on Friday. Students will have 2 full weeks of in class time to work on their one-pagers, and I am expecting very good demonstrations of understanding, thinking and connection related to the novel as a result.

Our class is up to $150 in Jump Rope for Heart donations, well done!

Things to note this week:

  • jeudi- Treat Day- “Smencils”
  • vendredi- Class/Group/Gr 7 photo

Another busy day in the Chalet!

Did some timed laps in PE, a bit of French grammar work, the 6s wrote their quiz, the 7s got theirs back, some have the option to redo on Monday. After lunch, Mr Bonnar visited with us discussing some concerning discriminatory language that has been reported to them, being used by some students in our class, and other grade 6/7 classes. He reminded us of the script Code of Conduct and kind, safe and respectful behaviour expectations. And then we finished Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus! Exhale. Students were also shown how to log into the Sora app, so they can access to the text, and I quickly outlined the novel analysis one-pager that we will officially begin on Monday.

Bonne fin de semaine, Ă  lundi!

Happy Sunny Wednesday! Sorry for not posting yesterday, a bit too much going on after school.

Today was very productive! We are SO close to finishing our novel, Friday is the day! Then we switched for Math, 7s wrote a quiz, 6s will write theirs on Friday. After recess we had our second Peace Circle with Ms Harnoor where we talked about the seen and unseen related to conflict, she and I were both very impressed with everything the class came up with, and again, great participation this week. After lunch, our little buddies came to play their math game with us and we finished the day having a Jazz Band from Ontario play for us.

Grade 7s- an email should have come through asking for baby photos for end of year things

Jump Rope 4 Heart is on! We will be jumping on April 23 and 24. Please click on the Fundraising Link to get started. As always, the class that raises the most wins an ice cream party. Div 3 has already raised $100, bravo!

What a beautiful day!

Sorry about not posting yesterday, trying to manage a few too many things at the moment.

Concours has officially begun and we have had 15 students (who all volunteered) present, which is officially half the class! We will continue tomorrow with the goal of finishing Friday, or Monday. Cannot wait for you to see how wonderful your child has done, after putting in so much work!

Both classes are continuing with decimal operations, and will both have a quiz on Friday.

SIC bookings open tomorrow! If you haven’t completed the Family Reflection Form, please do so at your earliest convenience, I will also be reaching out to those who haven’t yet.

You should have all read the email from Mr Bonnar about some issues we have been dealing with. Mme Gaudet and I are working to schedule some specialized sessions with our classes to address some whole class conflict resolution and general empathy strategies to help empower our students. Thank you for your support in checking in with your child and helping them work through any issues they may be having, or helping them learn how to appropriately conduct themselves behind their screens.

Les Devoirs:

  • demain: Concours Jour 3
    • Orchestre et Bibliothèque
  • vendredi: Education Physique

It has been quite the week in the Grade 6/7 FI classes. If you’re not sure what I mean, inquire with your child, and maybe ask to see what their online presence looks like.

We will continue to encourage, model and practice safe, kind and respectful behaviour at school in all situations, and appreciate your support at home with this. Especially as we celebrate Diversity and Respect Week next week.

Concours commence lundi! Students should be practicing all weekend in preparation. They have been told that we will start with volunteers and then they will be chosen randomly. The goal is to complete everyone next week as we near SICs in 2 weeks. Encourage them to get it over with so they’re not sitting in a puddle of anxiety all week.

Just a reminder that WGSS Course things are due today. I have received all the necessary forms, please ensure your child has logged onto MyEd to finalize their selection, and applied for any choice programs they may be interested in.

Lastly, we were supposed to have a FĂŞte de Classe this afternoon, unfortunately our Concours practice took a bit too long so we decided to push the yumyum/fĂŞte aspect to Monday afternoon once we return from SH/Orchestre.

Diversity and Respect Week:

  • lundi- Aboriginal Excellence Day
  • mardi- Rainbow Day
  • mercredi- Pink Shirt Day
  • jeudi- Identity Day
  • vendredi- Anti-Racism day

Bonne fin de semaine!
